Gradual Return of Normalcy:

Kupe Muanenguba SDO Orders Fleeing State Workers to Return
By Mesumbe Mamfred Ngube in Bangem
Basic and Secondary Education officials in Kupe Muanenguba division of the SW region have observed with elation an appreciable increase in the rate of school attendance, also noting a gradual de-escalation of the armed conflict that is playing out in the region since for over three years now.
The observations were made during an Administrative and Security Coordination meeting held in Bangem recently.
The focused on evaluating the security situation of the Division ahead of the 9 February twin polls, assess the road covered in 2019/2020 academic year, discuss level of PIB projects execution and urge teachers and other state workers posted in the Division to resume work.
Statistics presented in the course of the meeting indicated that a total of 33 schools are operational in Kupe Muanenguba Division (11 in Bangem, 11 in Tombel and 11 in Nguti Sub-Divisions).

The delegate of secondary education observed that no secondary schools were operational in Nguti Subdivision because of the recurrent and intense gun battles in the subdivision.
The Delegate of Basic Education on her part noted that schools resumption was gaining steam though timidly.
He SDO, Jean Marie Tchakui, at the end of the meeting issued an ultimatum to runaway state workers to resume work or face the wrath of the administration. He said that during his tour of the various public services in the division, he realised that most public were deserted of their workers.
“…I call on them to return to their job sites,” Tchajui ordered.
He vowed that projects in the area will henceforth not be allocated to contractors who have abandoned their jobs.
