Hundreds Bid Farewell to Mwelle Kunz
By Ekoko Willies in Kumba
Hundreds of mourners across the Southwest Region have bid
good-bye to renowned educationist and Kumba politician, Muelle Kunz Mbai. At
the funeral in his compound in Kumba Town Saturday 18 January 2020, mourners
reflected on the life of soft spoken and discreet Kumba school administrator
who taught and mentored many a Kumba inhabitant.
At a
Church service in honour of Kunz at the Presbyterian Church Kumba Town, the
servants of God implored mourners to borrow from the impactful life of the
deceased and exemplary. The preacher called on the mourners to live model
lifestyles through which footprints they all will be remembered when God calls
them.
The
inconsolable family members, friends, relatives and mourners throughout the
funeral took time off to recall pleasant moments they shared with late Kunz as
well as lament the vacuum his departure has created as a rising politician and
Bafaw elite.
Late
Kunz militated with the Cameroon People Democratic Movement Party (CPDM) as a
politician. Before his demise, he was Alternate to Senator Otte Andrew Mofa. He
also served as messenger (charge'e des mission) for the Party in Meme.
Kunz
would be remembered for starting the yearly thanks giving in several Churches
in Kumba during end of Academic Year exams to celebrate brilliant results of
his students. He is on record to have produced the best GCE O/A results in CCAS
Kumba while as Principal. The devoted Christian served as an Elder of the Presbyterian
Church Kumba Town cumulatively with post of Project Committee Chair among
others. Kunz is also remembered for instituting the famous Principal's Cup in
CCAS Kumba where he served as Principal for years and other colleges. Kunz died
barely a year after a well-deserved retirement.
