Territorial Administration Minister who doubles as
government’s agent to the electoral process has assured officials of Elections
Cameroon (ELECAM) that all necessary security measures will be taken to ensure
that all election materials get to their destinations safely before voting day.
Paul
Atanga Nji gave the assurance last week after a visit he paid to Elecam to
assess the level of preparedness for the twin polls to hold on 9 February. The
MINAT also visited the National Printing Press and the Cameroon News and Publishing
Corporation, SOPECAM where election materials are being printed, and the
Yaounde Air Force Base where produced materials are safely kept.
Minister
Atanga Nji at the end of the visit expressed satisfaction with the rate and
quality of work done. He said he could rest assured the deadlines would be
respected.
“We
have seen that all materials to be printed are ready. ELECAM did the right
thing by giving the job to SOPECAM. All the ballot papers have been printed. As
the agent of government in this electoral process, I am happy to say that
SOPECAM is very professional. They have respect for time and deadlines,” the
Minat said.
“I am
happy to see that all the ballot papers going to the Northwest and Southwest
have already been printed. It is a clear indication that the elections will
hold in all 10 regions, 58 divisions and 360 subdivisions”.
Election
materials were expected to be ready before January 25 when campaigns for the
twin elections were supposed to begin.
