Governor Institutes Compulsory ‘Keep Douala Clean’ Days
Littoral Governor, Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua, has set aside Thursday as the day for compulsory weekly cleaning campaigns in the Douala 2 and 4 council areas of the economic capital city.
The Governor made the announcement during visits he paid on Thursday to some markets and localities in the Douala 2 and 4 councils including notably the Bonassama, Grand Hangar (Douala 4) and the Guellem Market in Duoala 2.
The Governor told traders that on all Thursdays of the week market stalls would remain closed from morning till 11am for cleaning to be done on the pavements and gutters in and around the markets.
Governor Diboua said stores and shops in the neighbouring quarters will also shut their doors, while their owners would clean the surrounding environments.
The Governor urged traders and city dwellers to copy the good example from towns in the South West region like Buea, Limbe, Tiko, Kumba that are permanently clean because of compulsory weekly clean-up campaigns.
