The populations of the five villages that make up Balikumbat Sub-Division have once more taken to the streets to denounce what they term as excesses of separatist fighters in the area. The villagers used the occasion of the distribution humanitarian relief material from Presidential couple, Paul and Chantal Biya, to demonstrate their disapproval to separatist activities.
The locals used the event to once more pledge their commitment to collaborate with government to fight against the phenomenon of ghost town. They marched with placard and peace plants distancing themselves from separatist activities and acts of violence.
The march comes barely weeks after the villagers publicly denounced separatist activities, set ablaze their camps and confiscated weapons following persistent kidnappings, killings, extortions and forceful financial contributions from the armed men.

Ngoketunjia SDO, Quetong Handerson Kongeh, used the distribution exercise to congratulate the population for braving separatist odds, shunning terrorism, secession and standing for peace, one and indivisibility Cameroon.
“The message is very clear. Those who have eyes should see and those who have ears should hear. This population has turned her back against terrorism, division,” Quetong said, while, condemning in strong terms acts of banditry and attacks on beneficiaries. The over 100 families who each received mattresses, blankets, buckets and food stuffs expressed gratitude to the Presidential couple and prayed for fast solutions to end the crisis for them to return to normal life.
