Far North Region:

CPDM, NUDP Tussle for Control in Kaele
By a correspondent in Maroua

The Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement (CPDM) and the National Union for Democracy and Progress (NUDP) political parties are in a fierce battle in Kaele municipality in the Mayo Kani Division in the Far North Region ahead of the twin 9 February 2020 polls.
The two parties are represented in the area by very popular candidates and ace politicians. Long-time member of government, Minister Hele Pierre, leader of the CPDM municipal list will confront NUDP party represented by Simon Tayibe Ngalba, heading the municipal and legislative list for the party in the area.

The clash between the two politicians in the municipality has been described by many as a battle of the titans. This is so as Minister Hele Pierre is not only known in the national political scene but also a force to reckon with at the local level since he joined the CPDM party in the early 2000s, participated and won in the 2007 and 2013 local elections in an area that was considered a bastion of the NUDP.
Hele Pierre who is a former baron of the NUDP will battle out with a former party comrade, Ngalba in the upcoming polls. Ngalba is a coordinator of the Mayo Kani confederation of the NUDP and is well grounded in Kaele. The architect by profession and Director of infrastructure at the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure enjoys the political backing of his boss and national chair, Minister Bello Bouba Maigari. He is the leader of the NUDP municipal and legislative list.
