Ebolowa, the capital of the South region now has an ultra-modern hotel. The 92-rooms, 3-star Bengo Hotel was inaugurated by the PM, Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, on Thursday 30 January, in the presence of political, administrative and traditional elite of Ebolowa and the South region.
The Bengo Hotel, whose construction started in 2009 as part of preparations for the hosting of the National Agricultural Show in Ebolowa in 2011, was only completed recently by the Chinese Company that won the contract for its construction.
Inaugurating the 3-star tourism outfit, Dion Ngute hailed the head of state for instructing its construction, saying it would go a long way in alleviating the poor living conditions of the people of Ebolowa by boosting tourism and socio-economic development of the city.

The PM urged the population of Ebolowa to take maximum advantage of the advantages offered by the hotel including notably the provision of 100 direct jobs and over 300 indirect jobs.
Named after the Bengo River, the 6-floor hotel would afford a choice venue for big, international events like seminars, conferences and picnics, the PM indicated.
It would also serve as choice place for lodging of big businessmen from Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and other neighbouring countries, he speculated further.
Constructed on a three hectare piece of land, the 15 billion worth Bengo Hotel has two presidential suites, a modern night club, an Olympic swimming pool, a tennis court among other facilities.
Commentators at the inaugural ceremony said the hotel was one of the fruits borne by the Maobi Tree that was planted by President Biya when he launched the Agricultural Show in Ebolowa in 2011. The others are the modern Ice House built on the Show Village in the Ngalan new layout, Ebolowa, the modern regional hospital and the low cost housing project.
It should be noted that PM Dion Ngute also visited the Ice House and the site of the low cost housing project.
