Amid Scary Insecurity:

BIRs to Escort All Commuter Buses Going In, Out of B’da
BIR to escort all buses
Travel times between Bamenda and Bafoussam have been restricted in this department.
Simon Emilie Mooh, the prefect of Mezam has decided to introduce a curfew in his department. The announcement was made this Monday, March 09 through Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV) antenna of the city of Bamenda, capital of the North West region.
Travelers from Bamenda to Bafoussam are invited to gather at the place called “Custom Junction” from 9 am for morning travelers, and 10 am for those in the evening.
As for those leaving from Bafoussam for Bamenda, the gathering will be held at a place called “Malazem”. People who travel in the morning will gather there at 6 a.m., while those in the evening will gather there when it is 5 p.m.

From now on, inter-urban transport vehicles will be automatically escorted by the security forces.
From memory, this is not the first time that a prefect has instituted a curfew in this department. Simon Pierre, the former prefect, introduced a gender ban in 2017. Except that there, it was strictly forbidden to move between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. This curfew came the day after an attack on the Bafut Check-point security forces.
