Atanga Nji Paul, Territorial Administration Minister, has assisted some internally displaced persons from Menchum Division seeking refuge at the Garden, Education and Healing Orphanage in Bamneda. He immediately visited the IDPs last weekend when he was informed of the deplorable situation under which they were living after escaping the crisis.

The MINAT boss who doubles as the National Coordinator of the Government Emergency Humanitarian assistance plan swung into action and dispatched relief materials consisting of mattresses, buckets, blankets, toilet soap and basic foodstuffs.

Accompanied to the orphanage by NW Governor, Adolphe Lele, and other administrative officials, Atanga Nji, dished out the sum of FCFA 1.5 million to permit the coordinator orphanage feed the IDPs pending a permanent solution to their situation.
He equally seized the opportunity to do an on-the-spot evaluation of the plight of the IDPs at the orphanage and urged all and sundry to be strong and not lose hope because the Head of State knows their plight and is working towards alleviating it.
He listened to the ordeal of the IDPs who narrated how they trekked over 80 kilometres to get to Bamenda for close to two weeks without bathing and without enough food to eat.  Test run on the IDPs comprising old mothers, children and women indicated most of them were facing challenges ranging from malnutrition, diarrhea, and even malaria.
