Victor Ngoh Nkelle
Municipal councilors of the three councils that make up Kumba metropolis have recycled Victor Ngoh Nkelle to become the pioneer Kumba City Mayor after serving 11 unproductive years as Government Delegate (he was appointed 9 February 2009).
The election at the council hall 3 March 2020 saw Ngoh slightly defeating Gregory Mewanu, after a stiff resistance.  Ngoh scored 38 votes from the 75 councilllors that made up the Electoral College while Mewanu came close with 31 votes and Ekoko Muelle scoring 6 votes. He will be assisted by Madam Ebanja Victorine of Kumba III and Sako Macmillan of Kumba II council as 1st and 2nd deputies respectively.
Prior to the polls, the CPDM Central Committee Permanent Delegation Head, Chief Justice Benjamin Mutanga Itoe brandished an envelope insisting that it was coming from the Central Committee, instructing him to invest on a Candidate.
This move, was not welcome by the councillors who called the attention of the SDO, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong, who called on all to participate in the elections and for anyone to be voted.

Ntou’ou Ndong said there was a candidate among the three who will assist him in the fight against the weekly separatist imposed ghost town that is respected on a 100% by inhabitants of Kumba. The administrator in what seemed to be an indirect campaign for a candidate urged voters to make a right choice and not to be deceived to vote on basis of friendship, adding, that he was willing to work with the right person to improve the livelihood of Kumba.
In his campaign message, Mewanu promised to transform Kumba to a Clean City adding that as a businessman and a successful School Proprietor, he will use his contacts to bring investors in Kumba.
On his part, Ngoh Nkelle advised councillors to better deal with the devil they know than an angel they don’t know, adding that he is the most experience person who is sure to deliver the goods. He assured the councillors that peace would come as he is upbeat to win. Muelle Ekoko who was brought in as a spoiler of the fight that was hot between Ngoh and Mewanu disclosed if voted he will bring peace to Kumba.
