Baligham Fon Voted as Mayor of Santa

HRH Fon Samkie Elvis Gahnyam II of Baligham has unanimously been elected as the Mayor of Santa council in Mezam Division, Northwest Region. He unanimously assigned the task to manage the development affairs of the municipality by all 40 councillors that make up the council during a session Tuesday 25 February 2020 at the council hall.

                Speaking shortly after his election, Gahnyam II, pledged to work in collaboration with his entire team and the people to enable them tackle the socioeconomic and development projects much needed by the municipality within their five year mandate.

The Mayor cum traditional ruler promised to live up to the expectations of the people by delivering to them the much needed development they wish for and maintaining a cordial ties by always being there to listen to their worries. “My council team is made up of technicians of all walks of life. I am going to work with them in team spirit,” Gahyam II promised

                Dr. Chi Asafor, member of Santa elites called on all and sundry to lend their support to the new Mayor and trust in him for their development. He added that the solidarity demonstrated in the course of the election should be reflected in their support to him throughout the mandate both by councillors, the population and the elite class.  

                “You can be rest assured this newly elected Mayor will have the support of the elite in all what he is going to do that will be in the interest of Santa Subdivision,” Asafor promised.

                Gahyam II will be assisted by four deputies: Cho Eric Ndikum, Javice Azong Tabefor, Forjindam Jennette Fuche and Hassan Oumarou as 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th deputies respectively. The election in Santa was coordinated by Mezam SDO, Simon Emile Mooh.

                Gahnyam’s election equally serves as a renewal of the trust of his peers on his person after successfully piloting the affairs of the council for past two years. He rose to from the position of 1st deputy Mayor to become Mayor following the sudden death of his predecessor.
