The government delegate to the Limbe City Council has called on the Manyu community in Limbe to join the government to preach peace as a permanent solution to the Anglophone crisis and to get their names registered on the electoral registers so as to vote in the upcoming elections this year.
Andrew Motanga Mojimba made the call on the occasion of a civic reception organized on his behalf by the Manyu Elements Cultural Association (MECA) Limbe branch, on Saturday 12 May 2018, at the Limbe City Hall.
The Manyu Community honoured the GD with the title of “Ndumne Akassang” which means an illustrious son does not discriminate.
The decoration was conferred on the GD on behalf of the Manyu community by Sesekou Arrey Besong, a Manyu notable in Limbe.
The title adds to other titles that the GD had earlier received from other tribes including notably “Ekoka Moto” by the Bakweri people, “Shey’” by the Banso people and “Chamba” by the Lamido of Ngaoundere.
Andrew Motanga could not conceal his joy for the kind gesture done to his good self by the Manyu people.
“This is a landmark event that the Manyu people have organized for me. Before becoming who I am today I have always had a very close sentimental concern for theManyu people. I don’t joke with issues concerning the Manyu people taken into consideration your great numbers in Limbe and your support in the organization of the Limbe FESTAC since its inception in 2014…So i must say thank you for honouring me with such a great title.”

The government delegate called on the Manyu people to keep on supporting the organization of Limbe FESTAC, saying that Limbe cannot get meaningful development without the participation of the Manyu community, which is arguably the largest single tribe in Limbe.
He frowned at the fact that the Manyu people in Limbe do not have a community hall for their meetings. He immediately launched a fund raiser for the construction of the Manyu Hall with the sum of 500.000 fcfa in cash (five hundred thousand francs).
He was supported by the MP for Fako East, Hon. Etombi Ikome Gladys, pulled out the sum of 100.000 fcfa (one hundred thousand francs).
Addressing the socio-political crisis in the two English Speaking Regions in the country, the government delegate regretted the loss of lives, thousands of internally displaced persons, tens of thousands of refugees in foreign lands, destruction of public and private properties among others.
Speaking earlier, the president of MECA Limbe, Etchi-Arrey Nkongho, said the Manyu people could not help recognizing the good works of Andrew Motanga since he became GD. He mentioned the engagement of the GD in providing street lighting and public taps, recruitment of teachers in the basic education sector, award of scholarships to pupils and students in the municipality, introduction of the FESTAC with Miss Ndibong Milena from Manyu division emerging as “MISS FESTAC 2018” etc.
“Mr. Government delegate, dear brother, “it is better late than never”, and “he who laughs last laughs best”.  We may be organizing this ceremony many years after your appointment to office. This was intentional; we needed to gather enough evidence to prove your hard work,” the MECA President said, noting that there was no better way of encouraging the GD for his numerous achievements than by honouring him with a civic reception and conferring him a traditional title.
The MECA President promised the full support of the Manyu community to the government delegate in all his endevours.
The colourful ceremony was marked by a masterly showcase of the rich cultures of the Manyu people.
Also present at the ceremony were the mayors of Limbe 1, 11 and 111, Senator Njako, section presidents of CPDM amongst others.
