Some 16 students graduate from ACHAS University |
ACHAS University Institute of Tourism and Business
Management, Buea has sent out the 5th batch of its students into the job
market.
The
graduation and Prize award ceremony which took place recently at the school
premises at Molyko, Buea saw 16 students in the domains of transport and
logistics, tourism and hospitality management taking the graduation oath
pledging to be good ambassadors of their institution.
Addressing the graduates the registrar of the
Institution Madam Ngwa Patience Lum urged them not to be job seekers but job
creators. She said, “You all are now very ripe to work in different spheres of
our National Economy. Put God first and mankind at the epicenter of everything
you do and also the moral values you gained from this institution."
With
their slogan, “Quality Education today, Quality jobs tomorrow”, it should be
noted that the ACHAS University Institute of Tourism and Business Management is
mentored by the University of Dschang.
Talking
to the press Madam Mercy Asangu, a lecturer in the University voiced that
professional education provided to the students is functionally directed to get
to the exact needsof industries. “Our Students are professional and are ready
for the job market. The students are out on internship which is a prerequisite
for them to finish their degree program and so far no industry has given any
negative report about our students” she noted.
“As they graduate today, they should stay positive, remain
proactive, discipline and productive”, she told the graduates.
Prizes were given to meritorious
students; Choline Nchang emerged as overall best with 1st position, Taboh Ngam
Claris and Etchu Bernice in the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
To
Taboh Claris, the 2nd best student, ACHAS University has enabled her to
transform her dreams into reality. “Due to ACHAS University and due to my
outstanding performance i have been employed in an industry already. So I am
already in the job market. The Challenges were enormous but with God Almighty I
conquered.”
Presenting
his Academic discourse on Post graduate challenges Dr. Angu Rolland told the
students to be able to make the right decisions as they enter the job market.
“Challenge yourselves and impact the society positively,” He said.
ACHAS University offers HND
programs in tourism and hospitality management, conservation management, recreation
management, transport and logistics, banking and finance, marketing and
advertisements, accounting and finance, and human resource management.
