The crowds came out to watch the youths showcase their talents |
The launching in Bangem Saturday and in Tombel Sunday, was presided over by the SDO of Kupe Muanenguba, who watched all the inaugural matches to the end.
In Bangem just like in Tombel, The SDO was flanked by the mayor, the DO, traditional authorities, as well as an impressive number of internal and external elite.
Organized at the initiative of the Minister, Assistant SG of the Presidency of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Elung Che, the launching in Bangem, like in Tombel, was garnished by the presence of mammoth and enthusiastic crowds that chaired the players as they showcased their spell-binding and compelling football talents.
According to Ivo Ebage, who represented the Minister at the launching in Bangem and in Tombel, the holiday tournament is aimed to enable the youths of Kupe Muanenguba to cultivate a spirit of peace, solidarity, tolerance with one another and living together in harmony.
For a full month, from 20th July to 15th August, the "Peace and Solidarity Tournament" would be staged in the three major towns of Kupe Muanenguba Division - Bangem, Nguti and Tombel. This reporter, for obvious reasons, could not travel to Nguti to cover the launching that was also programmed to take place there, on Sunday 21 July, with the DO of Nguti presiding.
Also aimed to galvanize the youths and their parents towards back-to-school, the football jamboree is expected to culminate to an effective resumption of schools come September.
