Emergency Humanitarian Aid: Gov't Distributes Relief Aid To Over 2000 IDPs in K'ba - IDPs urged to send kids to school, contribute to development of the Meme

Some 2000 Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in Kumba have benefited from government’s humanitarian relief material. The consignment of humanitarian assistance from the Head of State, President Paul Biya was distributed to the IDPs Friday July 19, 2019.
    While supervising the distribution of the relief material comprising matrasses, bags of rice, toilet tissue, cartons of bathing soup, vegetable oil, blankets amongst others, Tchuente Gilbert, Sub-Director of Civil Protection at the Ministry of Territorial Administration said the distribution aimed at getting to 2000 IDPs because of the large number of IDPs living in Kumba.

    He added that government is aware most of the IDPs still live in emergency situations reasons why more relief material will be brought to them in the next consignment. He indicated that despite the difficulties involved, government is finalizing plans to take the food items to those in the hinterlands of Mbonge and Konye through the coordination centre in Buea.
    On his part, the SDO for Meme, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong, while urging IDPs to convince those in the bushes to live the bushes, reintegrate themselves into the society and contribute to the development of the Division appealed on them to send their kids to school for the new academic year come September. He called on the Divisional Officers charge with the distribution of the food items to strictly ensure the goods are distributed to the rightful beneficiaries, IDPs.
    Receiving the gifts, scores of the IDPs drawn from across the region living in Kumba expressed their gratitude to the Head of State but urged government to hasten solutions to the crisis and enable them return to their villages instead of living as beggars. The IDPs decried their poor living conditions begged on government to create a conducive atmosphere that will enable their idling kids return to schools.
