SW Tax Revenue Drops By 29%

Evaluations made by Public Accountants of the Southwest region have revealed a drop in revenue collection in the region by 28.6% as compared to the 2018 financial year. 
The statistics were made known 28 November 2019 during the first coordination meeting of Public Accountants of the region. The officials indicated that despite the drop, total expenditure has increased by 5.2% compared to 2018.
                Angoula Mbassi, Southwest Treasury-Paymaster-General TPG, told reporters that the financial records are good despite the crisis rocking the region with about FCFA 20 billion collected.
                He added that expenditure increased from FCFA eight billion in 2018, to FCFA 9 billion in 2019.
                He enjoined public accountants of the region to confront the challenges head-on with moral rectitude and diligence.

                He prescribed hard work, assiduity, punctuality and adaptability as key to meeting their objectives. He entreated all and sundry to desist from unprofessional practices.
                On his part, the representative of the Director General of Treasury, Eric Eyong Eyong, said the Region is witnessing a security situation which is affecting the treasury especially in mobility and resources with strict prescriptions from hierarchy on how to overcome these security challenges.
                The meeting took place under the watchful eyes of the Secretary General at the Southwest Governor’s Office, Dr. Mouhamadou.
                It featured presentations on end of year operations, the building of management accounts, abnormalities brought by the Audit Bench of the Supreme Court and procedure for public contracts award according to the new Public Contracts Code.
